MISSION STATEMENT
AMA ALUMNI FOUNDATION
“To preserve the traditions of the Augusta Military Academy and to honor the memory of the life and times of its alumni, faculty, staff, and supporting families through the AMA Museum, the Legacy Scholarship and the publication of The Bayonet.”
The Alumni Organizations of the Augusta Military Academy were formed by former cadets for the purpose of preserving our common heritage and enhancing the contacts between members. Any former cadet or faculty member, any former staffer and any friends of the Academy are welcome to become members. There are no applications, no initiations, no dues, and no obligatory duties involved. Inasmuch as we are self-supporting, we do ask that you contribute to our funds to maintain the Museum and The Bayonet newsletter, offer scholarships, and defray our administrative expenses. A donation button can be found at the bottom of the home page.
The Alumni Foundation, was created in 2000 as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization to provide a secure, on-going base for alumni activities. Any donations are tax deductible on Federal and Virginia State Income Taxes. It is guided by a thirteen-member Board of Directors and it supports:
- the AMA Legacy Scholarship Fund (for lineal descendants of former cadets),
- the VMI Scholarship Fund (honoring Gen Charles S Roller, Jr., a VMI graduate),
- the AMA Museum,
- the maintenance of the alumni mailing lists, and
- the publication and distribution of The Bayonet (also available on-line).
