The Augusta Military Academy Alumni Foundation funds the AMA Museum, produces the newsletter, The Bayonet, and AMA Legacy Scholarships. All of these endeavors are funded directly by donations from Alumni and friends of AMA. There are no other appreciable sources of income.
Since the school closed in January of 1984, no more Alumni are joining our ranks. And as time goes by, our ranks are dwindling. But those of us who remain are strong and determined.
Nothing on earth can stop the commitment of a dedicated few. We can see this in history as a small Spartan force of 300 held off thousands of Persians for three days during the Battle of Thermopylae. Think of the few brave men who stood up against mighty England in the American Revolution.
Our situation is but a microscopic emulation of these great events but the message is clear. A dedicated few can make all the difference!
We need to keep our marvelous museum operating efficiently, pay our staff, keep the lights on, fund our Legacy Scholarships, and pay for The Bayonet.
How can we accomplish all this? We need a commitment from 300 alumni and friends who will pledge to give at least
$500 a year for five years. Those who commit will become members of our 300 Club. Members will receive a lapel in which they can wear with pride.
And there are many ways to fulfill this commitment. You can obviously send us at least $500 in a single gift each year. Or $250 twice a year, or $125 quarterly.
Even easier, you can give set up automatic recurring credit card payments with our museum administrator. These payments can be monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. To sign up, contact Neil Fitzgerald at the museum by email at Museum@AMAalumni.org. Or call the museum at 540-248-3007.
